“As a general rule, when people become absolutely certain that they know what they’re doing, their creativity plummets”
John Cleese in his book, “Creativity, A Short and Cheerful Guide.”
I love this quote because it gets right to it about the idea that we can know the ONE RIGHT WAY of doing something and how that shuts our creativity down. This is just one of the many pithy observations and thoughts about creativity from someone who’s been doing it for a while. I especially liked how his description of his own discovery of his creative nature begins:
“The first time I discovered I was a bit creative, it came as a surprise.”
Just like the subtitle promises, it’s a short and cheerful guide. It also has ring-tailed lemurs – what’s not to like? Get your copy right here on Amazon.
